Implementing sustainable solutions can achieve optimal management of water resources and responsible and sensible water use in order to maintain a good environmental balance.

Actions to protect and look after natural resources within the industry can also align with business objectives, and with the standards and regulations each sector demands. In this case, consumption and losses during production processes can be reduced on integrating systems to optimise water use. As such, a significant financial saving is made while also reducing the activity’s impact on the environment.

INOXPA recommend some effective solutions for managing water sustainably through integrating our product recoveryand CIP cleaning systems.

CIP-skid

Systems to save and recover water

The most feasible phase of the production process for saving water is during cleaning, although our PIG component gives rise to other possibilities.

Our pigging product recovery systems optimise the product recovery after the pumping processes, and can make cleaning using a CIP (Clean-In-Place) system subsequently easier. As a result, they can provide significant savings in resources such as water.

CIP

Reducing waste

Any product remaining in pipelines that isn’t recovered has to go down the drain, requiring a treatment or purification process, which are becoming more demanding and expensive.

Simplifying the CIP process

Recovering the product from pipes simplifies the subsequent CIP cleaning process, leading to savings in water, time, energy and chemical products.

Hygienic design of the skids

Substantial water savings can be achieved with a proper hygienic design of the internal parts of the skids requiring cleaning, along with a correct selection of spray balls or spray systems.

CIP system design

CIP systems can come with a tank, which has the purpose of recovering water from rinsing phases so it can be used for the first rinse of the subsequent cleaning process.

INOXPA can design the CIP system with a turbidity sensor in the return flow in order to limit rinsing times to a minimum without negatively affecting cleaning efficacy.

Optimizing systems

Optimizing the different CIP system phases leads to savings in water, energy and chemical products.

Sizing the CIP system for the installation that requires cleaning is extremely important, given that it leads to savings in water, energy and chemical products.

Recirculation and savings in other resources

Whenever possible, INOXPA’s CIP systems operate with recirculation or return to tank, which means a major saving in chemical products and water.

Substantial saving in electricity can also be achieved by properly selecting and using high efficiency pumps, such as the HCP model, and CIP pumps with a suitable impeller diameter, operating with a variable frequency drive if needed.

Heating system optimisation, taking into account the customer’s available services, is another aspect to consider for energy saving.
